Testimonials

Wendy takes a relationship driven approach to learning and understanding the business needs and objectives of employers to ensure they are successful in working with individuals with disabilities. She seeks to first assess the needs of an employer, and then provide them with the most qualified individual for the job. Her team’s continued support of the individuals placed in employment creates successful outcomes for both the employer and the individual.

Wendy’s a tough one to say “NO” to! She approaches placing individuals with disabilities into the workplace with an “employer-first” attitude, and her team consistently provides long-term on-going supports to both the individual and the employer as needed. Our stores have hired many of her clients over the years, and most all of them are still successfully employed with our company.

The Heartlight Organization is a rare find in today’s marketplace. When they state they are a full-service organization for individuals with disabilities, they are understating their value! Their professional development trainings in career exploration, work ready assessments, and workplace skills development in supporting educators in infusing these critical areas into the general curriculum are invaluable.

Wendy and her team go over and above in providing support for individuals and their families navigating the challenging and often daunting educational transition process. They understand, advocate, and provide supports for families through the IEP process, beginning in grade school, and through transition from high school to work, or high school to post-secondary education. Their advocacy services and vast knowledge of the State systems across the country, and passionate awareness of the challenges faced by individuals and their families are worth the investment. Their services will decrease your stress, decrease the immense amount of time you spend in trying to navigate the systems, and provide you with the support you need to reach a successful outcome for your loved one. We had given up hope of our son ever having a job in the community. Wendy and her team diligently and consistently worked with him for over 3 years, until he was placed in a job perfectly matched to his skill sets. They supported both he and his employer with the accommodations he needed to be successful, and he is now going on his 5th year on the job; has had raises, has had his hours increased, and gets flexible time off as needed for his medical needs.

Wendy and her support staff changed the trajectory of my child’s life and future. When others were saying “Never, and no way, would she be able to get a job or work in the community”, Wendy said, “Why not?”, and put together a plan and made it happen. I truly believe it never would have happened if we hadn’t used her services. She thinks outside of the box, and is unlike any service provider we had ever encountered.
A Proud and Happy Parent – Delaware

I’ve worked with support service and employment placement providers in the past. They continually failed to provide the supports necessary for the employee to be successful. They were focused upon getting the individual a job, and then abandoning the employer and the individual, after hire. The Heartlight Organization was different. They were not only focused on the needs of my company, but on assessing and selecting the right person who was the best fit for the position. They continued to support the individual and our personnel (training was key) in creating a “win-win” and successful outcome for everyone involved. The individuals they have placed within my company are some of my most valuable and loyal employees.

The information and classroom experiences our students received through your services were invaluable in regard to their growth.  Learning how to become a self-advocate for what they want to do now and in the future is vital for them at this stage in their lives. Exploring their career interests, understanding their strengths and weaknesses, and being able to learn about and demonstrate work skills, was invaluable. As we have discussed, this is something that is needed in all schools. Your program prepares teachers with the “how to”, and students with a realistic picture of what life will be like when they leave school. I appreciate you and your staff taking the time and developing this valuable program for us, and to educate our students. Please keep doing what you’re doing. Your work and your efforts are much needed, and not in vain.

The remediation specialists provided by this organization helped my children refocus, and to regain what they had lost educationally through virtual learning. There was no other way to help them catch up.
